Few words about the PhD Student Conference

The STEP'UP doctoral School is organising the 25th edition of its “Congrès des Doctorants” (PhD Conferences) from the 26th to the 30th of March. This conference is an opportunity for all PhD students from IPGP and the laboratoire de géologie de l'École Normale Supérieure (ENS) to present their work. PhD students from other European universities and institutes will be invited as well. These students will be selected based on their abstracts. For the foreign students, accommodation and transportation costs will be covered by the conference. The 3rd year students from IPGP and ENS, as well as all of the invited students, will give oral presentations, while the 2nd year students from IPGP and ENS will indicate if they prefer poster or oral presentation and the 1st year students from IPGP and ENS will prepare posters. This conference illustrates the diversity and interdisciplinarity of the different research topics in the geosciences. It is also an opportunity for the PhD students to make connections with other students, as well as with researchers and professionals, during the talks, poster sessions, and various events organised throughout the week.

Week program

Each session during the week will include presentations with a certain theme, based on the main research thematics at IPGP and ENS. In addition, Wednesday will be dedicated to employment in the geosciences, in order to allow the students to meet professionals from industry, and to learn how to promote their abilities. Finally, the closing conference, focused on the topic “From Earth to Mars”, will be held on Friday afternoon, followed by a buffet.

How to participate ?

In order to submit an abstract, students that are not from IPGP nor ENS must first sign up and then sign in. The submission deadline is on the 1st of February 2018.
